Sydney FC have secured the signature of Peruvian international playmaker Piero Quispe on loan for the Isuzu-UTE A-League 2025-26 season, with an option to make the move permanent once the loan is complete.
The 24-year old attacking midfielder joins from Pumas UNAM, one of Mexico’s biggest clubs, having moved from Peruvian giant Universitario de Deportes after an outstanding 2023 season.
Quispe won the Peruvian Championship in 2023 with ‘La U’, when he was named as the Peruvian Player Of The Year, as well as in the Team Of The Season.
A driving force behind Universitario’s title-winning campaign, Quispe also boasts 12 international caps for Peru, scoring once and playing at the 2024 Copa América.

Head Coach Ufuk Talay said Quispe’s arrival is a major statement of intent.

“To bring a player of Piero’s quality to Sydney FC in his prime is fantastic for our club and for the A-League,” he said.
“He has already shown at a young age that he can be the best in his league, winning both individual and team honours in Peru.
“He fits our profile, has international experience with his country and he brings creativity, vision and a winning mentality.
“He’s a player who can unlock defences and excite our fans, and we’re delighted he has chosen to join us.”

Quispe, who will take on the Sky Blue number 7 jersey, said he is motivated to deliver success in Australia.
“I am very proud to join Sydney FC, the most successful club in Australia.
“My dream is to win more Championships and to make history here, just as I did in Peru.
“I will give everything for the badge, bring creativity and passion to the team, and make our supporters proud.
“I cannot wait to arrive and start this next chapter of my career in Australia.”
Quispe is the Sky Blues’ sixth new signing ahead of the upcoming A-League Men’s campaign following the arrivals of Marcel Tisserand, Rhys Youlley, Al-Hassan Toure, Paul Okon Jr and Akol Akon.

He also follows defender Alex Grant who signed a longer contract with the club and Mathias Macallister and Gus Hoefsloot who signed a professional deals.
The Sky Blues still have one remaining overseas position to fill before the start of the campaign.
Quispe began his professional career with Universitario de Deportes, quickly becoming one of their most influential players.
His rise was recognised not only with domestic awards but also with regular international selection for Peru, where he has already contributed in World Cup qualifying campaigns.
