Sydney FC has signed former English Women’s Super League defender Faye Bryson for the upcoming Ninja A-League 2024-25 season.
The dynamic full-back joins the defending Champions, bringing her extensive experience from England’s top tier to bolster the Sky Blues’ defence.
27-year old Bryson has showcased her talent in the FA Women’s Super League (WSL) with clubs like Everton, Reading, and Bristol City and is known for her pace, tenacity, and versatility.
She also has A-Leagues experience having spent last season helping to guide Central Coast Mariners to the semi-finals.
Sydney FC Head Coach Ante Juric is thrilled to have captured a player with Bryson’s experience.
“Faye is a fantastic signing for us and her experience in one of the world’s most competitive leagues will be invaluable,” he said.
“She’s a strong, committed defender who reads the game exceptionally well and can also contribute offensively with her ability to push forward.
“Faye’s versatility and leadership on the field will be a huge asset as we aim to defend our title this season.”
Bryson was equally excited to be joining the hugely successful Sky Blues.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Sydney FC, a club with such a rich history and winning mentality,” she said.
“The opportunity to contribute to a team that has been so successful is something I’m really looking forward to.
“I can’t wait to get started, meet the fans, and help bring more silverware to the club.”
Bryson is expected to slot in at left back at the start of the season with Kirsty Fenton still on the sidelines with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury until midway through the campaign.
The Sky Blues will also bring in 15-year old, right sided, defender Rubi Sullivan for the upcoming season.
Sullivan has been a regular in the NWS Spirit FC squad in the National Premier Leagues Women’s NSW competition.
She will wear the number 23 shirt.
Meanwhile Sydney FC have agreed a mutual termination of Sienna Saveska’s contract for the upcoming season to allow the forward to find more regular first team football.
Head Coach Juric thanked Saveska for her commitment to the Sky Blues during last season’s Championship win.
“Sienna played an important role in our squad in helping us win back-to-back Championships,” he said.
“Her enthusiasm and dedication to Sydney FC was exemplary and I wish her the very best in her next challenge.”
Saveska made four appearances in Sky Blue including last season’s opening game against Western Sydney Wanderers in front of an A-League Women’s record crowd at Allianz Stadium.
