Sydney FC are thrilled to announce their return to Leichhardt Oval for the Sky Blues’ A-League Women’s fixtures, starting with their eagerly anticipated clash against Melbourne City on Sunday, 5th January.
The announcement follows the relocation of Sydney FC’s match against the Newcastle Jets earlier this month due to the Leichhardt Oval pitch being not ready to host elite women’s football at that stage.
However, after a thorough pitch inspection conducted by Sydney FC staff earlier this week, the iconic venue has been cleared for action, with the playing surface restored to its usual excellent condition.
Sydney FC CEO Mark Aubrey expressed his enthusiasm for the team’s return to Leichhardt Oval, emphasizing the significance of the venue to the club’s fanbase and the broader Sydney community.
“We are delighted to be returning to Leichhardt Oval, a venue that holds a special place in the hearts of our supporters,” said Aubrey.
“The pitch is now in fantastic condition, and we’re excited to see it filled with passionate Sky Blues fans during the January school holidays.
“It promises to be a great atmosphere and we look forward to starting 2025 on a high against Melbourne City.”
Sydney FC’s fixture against Melbourne City on January 5th is expected to be a marquee match, with fans encouraged to secure their tickets early to avoid missing out on what promises to be an electrifying encounter at one of the most atmospheric grounds in Australian football.
Tickets are available now via Sydney FC’s website. Don’t miss your chance to cheer on the Sky Blues as they kick off the new year in style!
