Sydney FC Goalkeeper Coach Zeljko Kalac today agreed to a one year extension to his contract, giving the Sky Blues a boost ahead of the 2012/13 season.
The former Socceroo and AC Milan goalkeeper joined Sydney FC at the start of the 2011/12 season after a long and distinguished career as a player and will continue his work with the Sydney FC goalkeepers.
“I-m thrilled to extend my contract for another season,” Kalac said. “I-m a Sydney boy, Sydney FC is a great club with great facilities and I have really enjoyed coming to work every day since I started. Staying at Sydney FC was the only option for me as far as I was concerned.
“I-m really grateful for the opportunity I was given when the position became available at the start of this year and I have enjoyed coaching the A-League ‘keepers as well as the young goalkeepers coming through.
“I was fortunate enough to play at some very big clubs around the world and the training facilities and environment is second to none in this country.
“It is an exciting time for football in Sydney with the new team coming into the A-League and I look forward to helping develop the goalkeepers at Sydney FC.”
Sydney FC has one of two goalkeeper positions filled for the 2012/13 season and Kalac will now switch his focus to identifying a second ‘keeper to work with Ivan Necevski.
