Sydney FC Offer Help To Barcelona Academy Kids

Sydney FC is reaching out to the families of young FC Barcelona Academy players to help them continue their football education following the closure of the project linked to the Catalan giants.

Parents have reportedly lost money following the closure and the Sky Blues are offering the former Barca Academy players free registration to the Sydney FC Skills Training Program (STP), once it is safely up and running post COVID-19.

Talented young players will be given their choice of a number of different STP locations right across Sydney during term 3 of the school year, with the chance to progress further into the Sky Blues Academy Training Program.

Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Danny Townsend said: “It’s disappointing to hear what has happened to these kids and their families, and we are delighted to offer them the opportunity to join our program free of charge.

“It means they can continue to learn the game they love through what is the only true and authentic pathway for football development in this country.

“We work with our local football associations and clubs to run the most reliable and well-regulated skills programs in the state, with a visible path to professional football.

“Importantly parents know they can depend on us as we have been running these programs right across Sydney for over ten years.”
