Sydney FC have moved to the top of the Liberty A-League with a 2-0 Sydney Derby win over Western Sydney Wanderers at CommBank Stadium after a Remy Siemsen brace.

Moments That Mattered:

HUNTER FREE-KICK TIPPED OVER – 7’ – Sarah Hunter curls a right footed free kick over the wall and it’s brilliantly tipped over by Langman.

SIEMSEN GOAL – 19’ – Ibini feeds Hawkesby in the penalty box.  She takes a shot which Langman can only parry into the path of Siemsen for a tap in.

SIEMSEN GOAL – 48’ – Halloway gives the ball straight to Hawkesby who plays a first time pass into Siemsen, and the striker turns and rifles a phenomenal shot into the top corner.

Two goals from Sydney FC’s Matildas star striker Remy Siemsen have taken the Sky Blues to the top of the Liberty A-League after a 2-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers.

Siemsen struck either side of half time, the first a tap-in after a shot from Mackenzie Hawkesby was saved, while the second was a bullet of a strike having been set up by Hawkesby again.

Sydney FC dominated the remaining part of the game with Whyman having little to do in the Sky Blues net thanks to the defence of Tobin and McLean, while Ray, Hunter, Hawkesby and Lowe ran the midfield.

Next up it’s Wellington Phoenix in a home double header on Sunday.

“We missed passes and didn’t really create chances even though we scored two goals and were in the front third.

“Remy scored the two goals so you’ve got to be happy when your striker is scoring goals.

“She seems very confident coming from the Matildas, and it’s not just her goals, her link up play is excellent so she is getting better and better.”
