After breaking the Membership record for the second consecutive year, Sydney FC has unveiled the ambassadors program which will aim to provide faces to Sydney FC’s brand.
Sydney FC will communicate and engage through each relevant ambassador to the public, covering four key areas of the Sydney FC business.
Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata said the Ambassadors Program was a great way for the club to connect to its Members and fans and create a diverse channel of communication between the club and the public.
“The Ambassadors Program is a great initiative that will allow us to communicate in the best possible method with our Members and fans,” he said.
“With the iconic players and former players we have fronting each department I believe this program will prove to be a success.
“The Ambassadors we have are the best fit for each department and I have no doubt that they can successfully carry out their roles within the club.”
Fronted by Sky Blues legend Terry McFlynn, Former Marquee Brett Emerton, young guns Terry Antonis and Rhyan Grant and Westfield W-League and Matildas superstar Kyah Simon, the Ambassadors Program will create spokespeople within each area of the Sky Blues business and provide the consumers with a player they can identify with and a public face they can connect with.
Representing the Membership department will be Terry McFlynn, the Sky Blues longest serving inaugural player. McFlynn will lead all Membership content and will host Members forums in this role as he looks to give back to the Members who have supported him since 2005.
With so many juniors aspiring to become Sky Blues, Sydney FC’s Terry Antonis and Rhyan Grant will become Junior Ambassadors. The pair have over 120 Sydney FC caps between them and will feature heavily in everything Sydney FC do for the youth, most notably the Junior Blues Membership program.
Former Marquee Brett Emerton will front the corporate side of the Sydney FC. Emerton, the third highest capped Socceroo, will be on hand at Sydney FC in Business Luncheons and will host the Sky Blues Business Lounge on match-days.
He said: “It’s great to have an involvement with Sydney FC. The Ambassador Program is a fantastic initiative and I’m delighted to be an integral part of it.
“I’m looking forward to working with the club and all of our corporate partners and guests.
“It would have been tough to walk away and not be involved with the game I love, so it’s great to be giving back and helping the growth and promotion of our game in Australia.”
With an Asian Cup Winners Medal, dual Westfield W-League Championships and a player of the year accolade, Sky Blues’ Kyah Simon will act as the club’s women’s ambassador. Simon will be responsible for promoting the Westfield W-League, women in football and also promote football throughout the indigenous community.
“I think every player involved in women’s football is somewhat an Ambassador as well,” she said.
“It’s an opportunity I definitely take with pride and hopefully I can be a role model for the younger generations to come.
“I love being a part of such a great club as Sydney FC and hopefully I can be a part of a few of the younger players moving up the ranks and representing the same colours that I am at the moment.”
Sydney FC’s Ambassadors will be representing the club at the club’s Hyundai A-League fixtures, functions and events throughout this season.
