Remy Siemsen Celebrates Opening Scoring

The Sky Blues got off to a perfect start with Remy Siemsen banging home the opening goal of the season within five minutes of play.

Sydney FC continued their attacking intent throughout the first half and were rewarded half way through as Siemsen bagged her second of the game, heading home from close range following a perfect cross from Foord.

Ante Juric’s side controlled the tempo from here on and into the second half with Victory never truly looking dangerous in front of goal.

The nail in the coffin came in the dying embers of the game as substitute Shadeene Evans’ glancing header found its way past Dumont and capped off a perfect start for the defending Champions.

Sydney FC will turn their attention to their away game against Adelaide United next Friday night.

What They Said:  Ante Juric: “It’s pleasing for the attitude and the output of energy. Just seeing the desire in a first game like that is fantastic.

“We never stop going forward, it’s a bit of a philosophy of ours, it could definitely have been more but I’m just happy with the energy we showed.”

Remy Siemsen: “I had a good stint overseas and I really did miss Sydney FC. I just wanted to come back to my second home and I’m really glad that I did. This is a great start to the season and the girls have been so welcoming.

(On the current squad): “It’s people I’ve played with before. The dynamic didn’t really change and I’m happy I’m back playing with these girls, they’re the highest of calibre. I’m loving being back at Sydney.”
