Sydney FC will pay tribute to out-going Premiership-winning coach Vitezslav Lavicka before Sunday-s do-or-die final round clash with Newcastle Jets at Allianz Stadium (formerly Sydney Football Stadium).

The match is likely to be Sydney FC-s final game at home for the 2011/12 season, unless the Sky Blues can finish 5th and both 5th and 6th-placed teams win in the first week of the finals, so Sydney FC will recognise the contribution Lavicka has made on Sunday.

Lavicka will be presented with a gift beside the pitch as the teams leave the field following the warm up, with the Sydney FC players and fans planning a suitable acknowledgement for the coach who delivered Sydney FC its first Premiership/Championship double.

“Vitja has made an enormous contribution to Sydney FC and it is only appropriate that we recognise him before the game on Sunday,” said Sydney FC GM, Community and Game Development Stefan Kamasz. “There is a chance it will be the last time we play at home before Vitja goes back to Europe so Sydney FC and the fans will mark the occasion with a tribute before kick off.

“Vitja has been popular with the Sydney FC fans and this is a great opportunity for them to acknowledge his contribution and also for Vitja to thank the fans, something he has done regularly throughout his three years at Sydney FC.”

Lavicka joined Sydney FC before the 2009/10 season, steering the club to its first ever Championship/Premiership double that season. Sunday-s match will be his 88th Hyundai A-League game in charge, as well as the six AFC Champions League matches in 2011.

In that time Sydney FC has won 33 matches, drawn 23 and lost 31 in the Hyundai A-League.
