Sydney FC goalkeeper Max Vartuli has completed a switch to Adelaide United ahead of the Isuzu-UTE A-League 2024-25 season.
The 19-year-old shot-stopper graduated through the Sydney FC Academy having joined the Sky Blues aged 14-years-old.
He spent all of last season on loan at Danish club AaB Aalborg having played National Premier League football with the Sky Blues senior Academy before that.
In April 2022, the former Endeavour Sports High pupil was called into the A-League Men’s squad for the Sydney Derby clash at Jubilee Stadium aged just 17 as Andrew Redmayne and Tom Heward-Belle were recovering from sickness and injury.
He sat on the bench while Adam Pavlesic deputised.
Vartuli has already arrived in Adelaide and began training.
“It’s a good opportunity for Max and is further proof we have a fabulous ability to give our Academy players opportunities to play professional football,” said Sydney FC Head Coach Ufuk Talay.
“Max has developed really well and we wish him all the best for the future.”
Vartuli expressed his thanks to Sydney FC for giving him the chance to progress his football career.
“I’ve always been a Sydney FC supporter and will remain one from afar,” he said.
“If it wasn’t for Sydney FC, it’s Academy Schools and development pathway, I wouldn’t have found myself in such a privileged position and I’m excited about what is ahead.”
The goalkeeper has signed a 3 year deal with the Reds.
