What They Said: Sydney FC Head Coach, Steve Corica said: “We’re definitely not at the races today from start to finish, they played really well and put us under pressure.

“We couldn’t deal with it but the three goals came from our mistakes.

“We gave the ball away, the first one was a deflection, the second one Red made a mistake and the third one was another we gave away,  so they have played really well but we weren’t at it.”

Sydney FC Captain Luke Brattan said: “They just wanted it more than us, it’s as simple as that really.

“They were first at everything and in the end it wasn’t good enough, we won the cup but that yeah two weeks in a row that we haven’t started well enough.

“Last week obviously we gave the goal away and another one tonight, seems everything like the deflection is going against us.“

MATCH REPORT

Sydney FC have lost 3-0 in the second game of the new Isuzu-UTE A-League season against the Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium.

The home team started off well and they pressured the Sky Blues’ defence resulting in Henry Hore’s strike deflecting off Luke Brattan and hitting the back of the net in the opening 48 seconds.

Sydney FC started to grow in the game and ball possession figures indicated that they had 64 percent to Brisbane Roar’s 36 percent.

However the home team’s high press caused problems and Lacerda’s back pass bobbled to Redmayne who’s clearance fell to Nikola Mileusnic to put Brisbane Roar 2-0 up in the 20th minute.

Joe Lolley and Robert Mak tested the Brisbane goalkeeper Freke at every turn of possession but couldn’t get past him to get the team on the score sheet.

Early in the second half Hore played a one-two to score and put the result beyond doubt.
