Sydney FC’s W-League side heads to Melbourne this weekend to take on the Victory confident of maintaining their impressive unbeaten streak.
Melbourne Victory begin their race for the title in the Westfield W-League against the Sky Blues this round, following a bye in Week One. This welcome match will be far from an easy one following Sydney FC-s dominating performance over Brisbane Roar last Saturday.

Alen Stajcic’s girls from Sydney have clearly stated their intentions early on this season, stamping their authority over the 2009 grand finalists Brisbane Roar. Melbourne Victory will have to find a way to diffuse strikers Kyah Simon and Leena Khamis this weekend.
The connection and understanding of each other-s game can be attributed to these two having played together for many years, which proved to be a major headache for the Brisbane defense. Experienced Sydney FC Captain Heather Garriock will be looking to add to her tally of two goals, which helped her earn Week One’s Westfield W-League player of the match.
This confident looking Sydney FC team head to Melbourne not knowing what to expect as the Victory are yet to unveil some of their secret weapons they acquired over the off season.
Westfield Matilda and Melbourne Victory captain Melissa Barbieri will look to lead the Victory to their first ever Westfield W-League title this year. Nicknamed ‘Bubs’, Melissa’s experience as a goalkeeper and simply as a leader will play a major part in the success of this team in 2010/11.
American international and ex-Central Coast Mariner Kendall Fletcher joins the Victory after completing a season in the Women’s Professional League in the US. Kendall is an exciting midfielder with great attacking ability who will control the tempo of play with her high level of fitness.
With Sydney looking to get their second win for the season and Melbourne yet to play their hand in 2010, the winner of this match will be a hard one to predict!
