Moments That Mattered

26’ | KLIMALA SHOT SAVED – Burgess makes a great jinking run into the box to shoot back across goal right footed. The shot is deflected goal-wards by Klimala but Freke saves.

58’ | REDMAYNE GREAT SAVE – A right wing corner to the back post finds the head of Warland which Redmayne reads exceptionally well, moving across his goal-line to save with his ribs.
67’ | WADDINGTON GOAL – The striker gets in behind the back four and buries the strike.
71’ | SENA GOAL – Beautiful quick feet from the Brazilian Sena to play a one-two with Ouahim and poke the ball subtly into the far corner and reclaim the lead.
74’ | KLIMALA GOAL RULED OFFSIDE – The ball goes out wide to Courtney-Perkins who is offside before crossing to Klimala to slot home from close range.
79’ | STRUICK GOAL – Sydney FC lose the ball and Jelacic squares it to an unmarked Struick to slot home.
90’+1’ | KUCHARSKI GOAL – Kucharski starts the move darting the ball through a bunch of players to Burgess who plays a brilliant first time pass through to Segecic. The youngster runs forward before cutting it back to Kucharski who had continued his run to hit a wonderful first time shot into the far corner.
Match Report: An injury time Jaiden Kucharski strike has given Sydney FC their second win of the season in a five-goal thriller against Brisbane Roar.
The Sky Blues dominated a goal-less first half before a fine finish from Polish striker Patryk Klimala broke the deadlock just after the break.
Waddingham equalised on 67 minutes breaking beyond the defence after earlier hitting the post.
However the lead didn’t last long and four minutes later a beautiful interchange between Sena and Ouahim and wonderful quick strike from the Brazilian Sena put the Sky Blues back in front.
Klimala had a second goal ruled out on 74 minutes before the Roar equalised with 11 minutes to go through Struick.
It wasn’t to be for the home side with Kucharski starting and finishing a fabulous move with a magnificent strike to send Sydney FC joint top of the table for now.
What They Said: Ufuk Talay: “Stats are important but I think the most important stat is the goals that you score to win games.
“I believe we gave them two goals, one ball over the top and we don’t defend it well and another when we were in control of the ball and we turned it over and they go and score in transition.
“We dominated in every aspect of the game, I’m delighted the boys got the three points because they worked hard for the last ten days.
“I thought Max had a really good game today, Segecic came on later and that’s Jaiden’s specialty in and around the box, right or left foot he can strike the ball.”
Patryk Klimala: “This is my job to score goals, I’m focused all game to do this and I didn’t and I’m so happy to help the team.
“I felt very good and running in behind is something I’ve done my whole career but I’ve only played four or five games with the guys so it’s not that easy to understand this.
“I’m sure over time we’ll be much better with this.”
Jaiden Kucharski: “Subs are supposed to come on a make a difference and I’m glad I could finish for the team.
“The boys started off quite well, it went both ways the next 60 minutes and we pulled through at the end.
“I think we just have a chilled night tonight, fly back tomorrow and get ready for Thursday.”
