Slovak signing boosts Sydney FC

Sydney FC is a step closer to completing its squad for the coming Hyundai A-League campaign with the club announcing it has signed Slovak international, Karol Kisel.

The continental shift continues at Sydney FC with the Hyundai A-League club announcing on Friday it has signed Slovak international, Karol Kisel.

The 32-year-old is well known to incoming coach, Vitezslav Lavicka, having spent ten seasons plying his trade in the Czech Republic, the last four of those with heavyweight, Sparta Prague, with whom he went to the UEFA Cup in 2007/08.

Kisel has made 23 senior appearances for the Slovak national team and has agreed to a one year deal with Sydney FC, where he will add pace and versatility to the Sky Blues- midfield.

“Karol is a highly regarded player and was a priority signing for Vitja (Coach, Vitezslav Lavicka) who coached him at both Slovan Liberec and Sparta Prague,” said Sydney FC CEO, Stefan Kamasz. “He has a wealth of experience and can play on either the left or right and will no-doubt prove an invaluable asset to the team.”

Kisel will arrive in Sydney on April 20, shortly after Vitezslav Lavicka and his assistant, Michal Zach and will begin preparations for the 2009/10 season when the new-look Sydney FC squad returns for the start of pre-season training on April 27.
