Sydney FC-s women will focus on finishing their chances at training this week as they prepare for their first ever Westfield W-League local derby against the Central Coast Mariners.
Last Saturday FC was held to a 1 all draw by a determined Newcastle Jets side in its first ever outing at Campbelltown Stadium, and coach, Alen Stajcic knows his depleted team will have to work hard to get the win this week.
“We are still carrying a few injuries, and have to get through the next couple of weeks with the players we-ve got,” said Stajcic.
Leena Khamis continued her scoring spree for Sydney last Saturday but it was rising star, Servet Uzunlar that shone the brightest for the Sky Blue women against the Jets.
“When we had the ball and we moved it around we played pretty well but we should-ve finished our chances a lot more,” said Uzunlar.
“I played alright but I really needed to finish those chances,” she continued. “I think with my confidence and my ability combined I can continue to play well.”
Central Coast was handed a heavy defeat in its last start by the Queensland Roar, but Sydney is expecting them to provide a tough test this Saturday evening.
The round 5 Westfield W-League clash will kick-off at Campbelltown Stadium at 6pm.
