Revealed – Why We Use The Neck Patches

A difficult away game v Adelaide has ended with us getting a much-needed victory. After a first half where we had much of the possession the second half was a different story but fortunately we were able to absorb the pressure and score in the 80th minute.

A difficult away game v Adelaide has ended with us getting a much-needed victory. After a first half where we had much of the possession the second half was a different story but we were able to absorb the pressure and score in the 80th minute.

Goals to Joel Chianese and Mitch Mallia were particularly encouraging as they are both emerging talents.

We now have another difficult opponent in Wellington on Saturday evening. It is imperative that we get a positive result against this team and others that are ahead of us on the ladder. Two wins in a row have given us some momentum but it is now time to build on this and remain focussed until the end of the season.

In recent times I have received many questions about the stickers seen on a number of players. People have suggested they are transmitter devices, heat pads and many other things.

These products contain Aqua Titan, which are microscopic titanium particles. It is thought that they relieve stress in the body etc. etc. but the physiological evidence is limited. Do they work? I always state that if a player thinks it works – it works. If that means it has a positive psychological or physiological effect I am not sure but the players that wear them believe in them.

There are many products in the market place that make many claims. I think it is important that you investigate products thoroughly before purchasing and also understand that just because a professional player wears something doesn-t mean you are going to be able to play like them. No product can ever take the place of hard work and determination.

In preparing players the psychological aspect is neglected and I think we all know the mind is very powerful. Our human performance team views the player from many angles thus we are open to any advantage we can get for that individual. Our squad is full of 21 individuals and what works for one may not for the other but it is always important to be open minded.
If you ever need any advice on any product please contact me and I will give you my opinion.

I hope to see you at our game against Wellington. We have 5 games of the regular season to go and we must get a positive result this weekend. Positive results are the culmination of doing the smaller tasks very well and I can ensure you that we will be doing everything we can to maximise our preparation and performance for this weekends game.
