“For me coming back and getting a full season under my belt isn’t something I’ve had the last few years in my career,” she said.

“It’ll allow me to work on myself on and off the field and help me become technically better.

“Being away with Young Matildas over the last few years and coming back from my ACL [injury], to have a full preseason under my belt is really promising and makes me feel even stronger coming into the competition.

“Being a starting player is something you want to strive for in the team,” she continued.

“We have a good group of girls and they’re all working hard to secure their spot in the team and for me that’s something personally I want to keep striving for.”

Ray said she’s excited for the new season to get underway as she earmarked the two standout fixtures for the Sky Blues 2020/21 campaign.

You can’t go wrong playing Wanderers, that’s the biggest game for me personally,” Ray said.

“It’s very exciting to know the season is going ahead. We’ve got some really good competition coming our way, so with the team we have I’m really excited to get it under way.

“Melbourne City are a tough team as well and have given us strong competition in the W-League, why start the season any other way, hopefully we get a win in the Grand Final rematch.

“The double headers will hopefully promote the game a bit more and the vibe we get at those stadiums is going to be awesome,” she continued.

“We’ve never had this many double headers before and having all the games televised will be awesome for all us younger girls and will add some more to the competition.”
