FC kicks goals with a prominent Sydney produce company.
It takes a lot of energy to keep an elite athlete at the top of their game and ensuring the players have a healthy, balanced diet is an important element in Sydney FC-s plan to take this-year-s Hyundai A-League title.
Helping the club achieve that goal this year is one of the State-s biggest fruit and vegetable providers, ‘Georges Providores- who have been doing their bit to keep the Sydney squad fed and fuelled at training and on game day since the start of the season.
“Sydney is a great club and we-re proud to be associated with them,” said Sales and Administration Director, Ross Galettis. “The owners George and Con have always had a love for football and for years sponsored the lower grade teams. They always said if they got the opportunity to sponsor the big boys they would, so it was always in them, they always wanted to do it.”
After starting out as a small business around 50 years ago ‘Georges Providores- have grown to the point where almost every passenger flying in and out of Sydney Airport enjoys their produce, as do restaurant patrons and hotel guests across the Harbour City, and now also Sydney-s finest footballers.
They see their association with Sydney FC as not only an opportunity to indulge their passion for football, but also to connect their company to a sport that embraces the entire community.
“I think its exposure in a different kind of way,” explained Galettis. “Getting in with something like Rugby League would be a hard thing because it targets a narrow market but I think with football being so broad it just covers so many people and the exposure-s definitely there.”
