Positivity key for Retre ahead of Big Blue

Sydney FC is gearing up for another Big Blue at AAMI Park and with both teams needing a vital three points, Sky Blues midfielder Paulo Retre knows it’ll be a competitive contest.

“I think it’s just going to be a game where both teams are going to be hungry to get the win so I’ll take a guess and say it’s probably going to be an exciting game.

“We’re both hungry for the points and I guess it’s only going to make for an exciting spectacle,” he said.

Having played many matches at AAMI Park under Melbourne City, Retre is looking forward to the electric atmosphere at AAMI Park once more.

“It’s always great, AAMI Park, a great stadium.

“Victory get good numbers out at the ground, so I’m sure it’s going to be a great atmosphere and The Cove are obviously going to try and get down there in numbers, so it’s one not to be missed,” he said.

Despite recent set-backs, the Sky Blues number eight is committed to going into every game with the goal of winning.

“Being at Sydney FC, you’ve gotta go into every game trying to win. So we’re going to do the same on Thursday,” he said.

Retre knows the club have to think positive

“I know it’s hard sometimes when results aren’t going your way, but all the boys have to stick together and try and give everything on Thursday,” he said.

Now at the halfway mark of the season, Sydney FC and Retre need to put past frustrations behind them.

“You gotta be positive now, go and move forward.

“It’s a big game with Victory but it’s probably the perfect game to get back to it,” he added.

“The main thing is just to try and be positive.”
