Mitch Mallia – Enjoying His First Break For Three Years

Young striker Mitch Mallia says he’s enjoying his first break from football in over three years but is still itching to get back out on the pitch.

Young striker Mitch Mallia says he-s enjoying his first break from football in over three years but is still itching to get back out on the pitch.

The Sydney FC frontman has played continually for the last three and a half years, having spent time with Marconi in the New South Wales Premier League during the A-League off-season, but has taken time off this time around.

“You need a break from football to miss it again but after about two weeks you really want to get back out there and I can-t wait,” said the 20 year old.

Mallia returns to training with his Sydney FC team-mates on Monday July 16th but has still been keeping in touch with some of his colleagues during the time off.

“I-ve seen a few of them, Nathan Sherlock, Joel Chianese but not all of them. We-re doing our own thing. Some of the boys have gone overseas but I-m just keeping it with the family.

“I-ve had another hit of golf with a few of the boys and have been really enjoying that since the Corporate Day with Sydney, trying to work on my game.

“I hit the ball each time now so can-t complain.”

While enjoying the rest Mallia has been keeping one eye on the comings and goings at the club with new players Ali Abbas, Fabio, Adam Griffiths and Vedran Jenjotovic all coming on board.

“We-ve signed some exciting players so I can-t wait to get working with them and Crooky and Steve, so really looking forward to it.”
