Sydney FC goalkeeper Jada Whyman will leave the Sky Blues after four successful seasons, having agreed to join AIK in Sweden for next season.
Whyman joined Sydney FC at the start of the A-League Women’s 2020-21 campaign and has won three Premierships and two Championships while with the club.
The 24-year-old has also been named in three PFA Team of the Season squads, represented the A-League Women’s All-Stars, won the Grand Final Player Of The Match in 2021 and become a regular in the Matildas squads.
Whyman heads to Europe with fond memories of her time in Sky Blue.
“I’ve enjoyed so much success with Sydney FC and I am eternally grateful and thankful to everyone at the club for their help and support throughout my time in Sky Blue, particularly our Members and fans,” said the Sky Blues’ most successful goalkeeper.
“If it were not for Sydney FC, I would not be in the position I am today and I am excited for the future.
“It has been the most wonderful four seasons at Sydney FC and one day I’d love to make a return.
“I wish the club all the best for next season and beyond.”
Head Coach Ante Juric praised Jada’s effect on the Sydney FC team and her influence in helping the club to five major trophies.
“Jada has been the number one goalkeeper in the A-League Women for the past four seasons, and she fully deserves her chance to test herself overseas, and to continue to push for a Matildas starting position,” he said.
“We will miss her, as she is a fantastic person and clearly a fantastic player. She has been a key component to all of our recent success.
“We are very proud of our record of developing and giving players chances to fulfill their ambitions overseas and Jada is the latest in a lengthy list of players who have succeeded in moves to overseas professional leagues.”
Whyman played 73 times for Sydney FC and kept 36 clean sheets, the best stats for a goalkeeper in the club’s history.
