Ins & Outs | Wood sidelined and Connors returns

Sydney FC Men & Women have released their squads for this weekend’s clashes with both teams dealing with fresh injury concerns along with the return of others.

Men’s

Ufuk Talay has been dealt a blow with Pat Wood sidelined with an ankle injury for the next 12 weeks after he played through a stress fracture for the previous three weeks. Wood has been in a boot and on crutches this week following last weekend’s 3-1 win to the Mariners where he aggravated the stress fracture.

After Hayden Matthews made his starting debut last weekend, he retains his spot in the side however Gabriel Lacerda is included in the extended squad after he is able to overcome his groin strain.

Joel King is nearing a return from his foot injury and is expected back in the next two weeks while Jack Rodwell and Aaron Gurd are still a little off.

Women’s

Ante Juric is able to welcome back Shea Connors to the line-up after more than two months sidelined with a broken foot. The American fractured her foot in training prior to the clash against Brisbane Roar in December and has been working her way back to fitness slowly.

Caley Tallon-Henniker fresh after signing a contract is included in the extended squad for the trip to Canberra.

Aideen Keane and Margaux Chauvet are included in the extended squad after impressing in training this week.

Unfortunately, Teigan Collister will be absent as she is the latest to join the injury list after picking up a foot complaint.
