“I hope he’s not here much longer” – Brattan

As one of the senior members of the Sydney FC playing squad, Luke Brattan has seen the younger members of the team coming through and is impressed with what they have produced on the pitch this season.

In the heart of midfield and as captain, Brattan is involved with every player on the pitch and demands a lot from them both in training and games.

Having seen them at their best, he believes that Jake Girdwood-Reich won’t be here much longer before sealing a move overseas with his current form.

“He’s been with us for a few years now and hasn’t gotten a chance but he’s now playing at centre back and he’s a fantastic player.

“I can’t see him being in Australia for much longer. I think he will go overseas,” Brattan said about Girdwood-Reich.

“For his age, he is one of the best one on one defenders that I’ve come across for a long time and he’s a good kid as well.

“He’s playing very well at the moment and still has a lot to learn but it’s great for the club to produce these young players and see them get the rewards and be doing so well.

I hope he’s not here much longer as I think he can have a great career overseas and do something special.

This Saturday, Brattan will come up against his former side, Melbourne City, at 5:30pm at Allianz Stadium and is wary of the threat that the Premiers pose with the four Socceroos in their forward line.

“Every week is a tough game and there is no easy opponent in the A-League but this week especially you are coming up against arguably the best striker in the league plus the other three Socceroos so it is a huge test for the two young boys at the back.

“They have some quality and it is going to be a tough test but for us it is all about our performance as well,” Brattan added.

“You play professionally to test yourself against the best and these guys are some of the best in the league.”
