The first of Sydney FC-s four Sky Blue adidas Holiday Clinics have just wrapped up after a successful three days of coaching at Hills Grammar School.

The children were put through their paces in a variety of drills focussing on passing movement and shooting on goal, with plenty of footballing talent on show on the Hills Grammar Fields.

Sydney FC-s Community Football Officer Paul Reid, who led the sessions, said the children were football crazy and didn-t want to sit down once.

“The kids could not get enough of football as it was difficult to hold them back from playing throughout their lunch break,” Reid said.

“We actually had to implement a rule where they had to spend 20 minutes resting and eating their lunch before being able to get back out onto the field to play games or shoot at the goals.”

Headlining the three day session was the visit of Ivan Necevski and Hagi Gligor on the final day that saw the two Sky Blues stars get involved in the sessions and play alongside the juniors as everyone got into the World Cup spirit.

“The highlight for a lot of the kids was when they had the chance to play alongside Ivan Necevski and Hagi Gligor in the mini World Cup,” said Reid.

“Ivan and Hagi then stayed around to present them all with their certificates, sign some autographs and were more than willing to get photos with the kids.”

Reid said he saw real progression in the footballing skills of all the participants and believes the children thoroughly enjoyed the clinic.

“It is always great to see kids playing football with a smile on their face, but the improvement of all the kids over the 3 days was a real highlight for me.”
