It was always going to be a difficult dream to achieve but Sydney FC’s ambition of going through the National Youth League season unbeaten has been shattered this evening, with Steve O’Connor’s side suffering a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Newcastle Jets at Adamstown Oval.

After going down a goal early the depleted Sky Blues were always chasing the game and never managed to get their noses in front, despite a double to prolific young striker, Sean Rooney.
The result keeps things interesting in the Youth League competition, but Sydney still enjoys a healthy 7-point lead at the top of the table and will be determined to move another step closer to the minor Premiership when it continues its campaign next Saturday against the 6th placed Central Coast Mariners.
