Sydney FC Head Coach Ante Juric was pleased with his side’s defensive resolution after a solid 1-0 victory over Central Coast Mariners.
The first 45 minutes were end to end in a physical contest and ultimately the match was decided with a Maddie Caspers goal from range late into the second half.
“I’m really happy with the effort. The performance maybe needs to improve in some areas, some touches and things like that, but when the effort’s there, you always have a chance to win,” Juric said.

“I’m really proud of the mindset in the defence, but it’s not just them — it’s the midfielders and the forwards who help as well. But yeah, I’m very happy. We just need to continue that.”
Next Saturday, his side will travel to face Canberra United in the nation’s capital and they do so at the top of the table. However, Juric isn’t getting carried away.
I don’t really think about it [top of the table] but in saying that, I’d rather be there than last.
“You know, it’s nice. It’s good for the fans and it’s good for us after last year, We want to win the Premiership — and you’ve got to be on top to win it.”
Seven girls will be unavailable for this clash on international duty, but Juric backs his side to still get the job done.

“We’ll have quite a few girls away with the Under-20s.
“That’s a positive though, because it shows we’re doing something right and giving them minutes. But our squad is okay in terms of depth, and we don’t have too many injuries. So we’ll be okay, and we’ll put out a strong team,” he concluded.
