Sydney FC new boy Jacques Faty has talked glowingly about life in Sydney as the defender prepares to face the Brisbane Roar at Allianz Stadium on Sunday (kick off 5pm).

Faty, who spent the previous two weeks out injured, is hopeful of making an appearance on Sunday in what would be only his second appearance at Allianz Stadium having only faced the Central Coast Mariners both home and away.

“I hope I can play against Brisbane because it will be at home,” Faty said.

“I really want to play this game but it’s up to Graham and the medical staff, so I will see if my injury is ok. Otherwise I’ll wait for the next game which is also at home against Melbourne City.

“Life in Sydney now for me is amazing,” he continued.

“It is a fantastic city and I’m very surprised by the people. They are more open and more polite than what I’ve met before in Europe so everything at the moment is positive and very good.

“It’s a bit early to talk about the football in Australia because I’ve only played two full games, both against the Mariners, but from what I’ve seen the football in Australia is improving every year.”

Faty has set his sights firmly on achieving silverware with the Sky Blues and the former Marseille defender believes the squad are in good stead to achieve a Championship based on their current form that sees Sydney FC remain undefeated in 2015.

“I came here for a challenge and the challenge is to finish top of the league,” he said.

“For the moment we are doing well so we will continue to play good and make the play offs and win the play offs.

“I would be happy for Sydney FC to play Champions League too. We have to take it one game at a time but we will see in the future.”
