Sydney FC Academy in NPL 2017

The Sydney FC Academy will have teams in the FNSW NPL Youth Tier 1 competition, participating in the U13, U14, U15 and U16 age groups.

In the older age groups, the FNSW Board has placed the two Sydney A-League clubs in the NPL 2 competition. This mirrors what recently happened in Victoria, where Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City were placed in the second tier competition. The Sydney FC teams will compete in the NPL 2 U18, U20 and 1st Grade competitions, utilising players aged predominantly between 15 and 20.

Selection/Trials

Recruitment for the teams involves a thorough and continuous process, with a network of scouts observing NPL 1 and 2 fixtures since pre-season in February. A database of targeted players is developed, and a large number of identified players are contacted.

It is unlikely that the Sydney FC Academy will have the need to hold any trials.
