Brett Emerton believes the support Sydney FC receives from its fans can help lift his side when the Sky Blues take to the Sydney Football Stadium for the first time in 2011/12 on Saturday night to tackle defending Champions Brisbane Roar.

While Saturday-s match will be Emerton-s home debut, the former Blackburn star experienced the passionate support from The Cove first hand he scored for Blackburn against Sydney FC at the SFS last August.

“I think there-s no denying when there-s a good crowd in here (SFS) that we get great support, especially from The Cove,” Emerton said.

“I-ve witnessed that before when I played here with my former club Blackburn so I-m expecting it to be a good atmosphere on Saturday and hopefully they can come out and support us and hopefully we repay them for that support with a good performance.

“I hope they have bought tickets and I hope they will come out and watch us play.

“it-s part of the reason why I-m at this football club and like all of us I just want to put on a good show but it-s not just about me, it-s about the team and if we play well and play entertaining football then hopefully they will come back week in, week out.

“It-s my first game at home in Sydney. I-m looking forward to it.

“It should be a great game. Obviously Brisbane are defending Champions and look likely to be one of the teams to beat again this season so hopefully on Saturday the people will come out and support us and there will be a good atmosphere and we will put in a good performance.

“If we can go 10 unbeaten games that would see us go a long way towards doing well this season and hopefully win another Championship for the club. That-s what we are aiming to do here this year and I think after last week everyone can take a lot of positives from the game and we can feel like we are contenders.”
