Donachie to take part in World’s Greatest Shave

Defender James Donachie will complete a ‘hat-trick of haircuts’ at Sydney FC when he takes part in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave campaign over the next six weeks.

‘Doncs’ will be following in the footsteps of fellow Sky Blues Luke Brattan and Rhyan Grant who have both raised a lot of money for the charity by shaving off their locks.

A two-time A-League Championship winning centre-half Donachie, who’s 28, will go the extra step this year by dying his hair blond for a few weeks before shaving it off.

“Dying my hair is something I’ve done before and people always notice when you do it, so I thought why not do it again to raise awareness for a good cause,” he said.

“I’m going to be sporting three different haircuts in about six weeks so it will certainly take some getting used to, but hopefully it will encourage people to donate to World’s Greatest Shave.”

James will be dying his hair in the next couple of weeks and completing his shave before the team travels to Vietnam for the AFC Champions League in mid-April.

“It’s a no-brainer for me.  It’s a great cause and raising any money we can would be incredible in a short amount of time.

“Both Bratts and Busta (Rhyan Grant) have done a fantastic job in raising funds over the past two years and have set the bar really high!

“Whatever I can do I’ll be happy and I hope everyone enjoys taking part in this year’s shave.”
