Sydney FC striker Cortnee Vine has been named as one of only two Liberty A-League players in the Australian squad for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Cortnee Vine has become a favourite of Tony Gustavsson’s since making her debut in 2022 against the Phillipines in a 4-0 victory for the Aussies. Since then she has made 16 caps for her national side and will now have the opportunity to play at a World Cup.
She becomes the first Sydney FC Women’s player to be representing the Sky Blues at the Women’s World Cup with a number of the squad having pulled on the Sydney FC jersey in the past.
Australia have drawn the Republic of Ireland, Nigeria and Canada in their group and will open the tournament on the 20th of July at Stadium Australia against the Irish. The top two teams will progress to the Round of 16.
Congratulations once again Cortnee on such a fantastic achievement.
