We look back at the 2013/14 season stats of a young star with huge potential, Corey Gameiro, who will be looking to build on his debut season with the Sky Blues under new Head Coach Graham Arnold this year.
Gameiro joined the Sky Blues at the start of the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League season from English Premier League Club Fulham FC and was on the scoresheet in no time during Sydney FC-s preseason friendlies, as he scored a brace in only his second game.
Gameiro missed the start of the Hyundai A-League season due to a freak knee injury, however he made up for lost time and made 15 appearances in total for the Sky Blues accruing 818 minutes of game time.
The Young Socceroo was troublesome up front, unleashing 20 shots at goal, and although minutes were limited in some matches, he managed to find the back of the net twice with his debut goal coming against Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium.
Gameiro was a constant danger on the wings for the Sky Blues too as the 21 year old had 357 touches on the ball, notching up two assists in the process, as he finished the season with a passing accuracy of 72.6%.
He carried out his defensive duties with due diligence too, clearing the ball on six occasions, and ended the season with a tackle completion rate of 63.6%.
With the October 11 kick off fast approaching, Gameiro will be hoping to impress this preseason and secure a starting role against Melbourne City.
