Charlie Rule ready for feisty Sydney Derby

Charlie Rule is determined to prove Sydney is Sky Blue once again when the Wanderers visit on Christmas Eve for the second Derby of the season.

In the last meeting, at the start of the month, Sydney FC were reduced to ten players after Nat Tobin’s first half red card, but they rallied to find a late winner through Remy Siemsen.

“Every time we play them it’s a big game and you want to win not just for yourself but for the team and the club as well” Rule said.

“In the last match, those are the matches you want to play in, because being down a player and coming back is really proving a point and showing we are not messing around.

“We have so many talented players in our team and any challenge we get, we know we can conquer it.”

In Charlie Rule’s last match at Allianz Stadium, her side ran out 4-0 winners against Brisbane Roar and is relishing the opportunity to go back-to-back at Moore Park.

“It was amazing playing Brisbane Roar there. The field was so nice and we are all excited to be back there.

“Regardless of where we play, I just want to give it back to Wanderers, especially after the last game. We want to prove even more that we are the better team” Rule added.

With Tobin’s return to action this weekend, Rule is confident of securing a fourth consecutive clean sheet in the Liberty A-League Women’s competition.

“Our whole back-line are a really great combination. Playing alongside them I just feel safe and it’s about putting your body on the line and giving everything.

“Defending is just as important as attacking and keeping a clean sheet is high on the priority list for our Head Coach Ante [Juric]” Charlie said.

“We are starting to find our form now and we’ve lifted since that nervous start when we lost to Adelaide.

“We still have a long way to go but I can feel something good happening and I know that we have much more in store.”
