Sydney FC midfielder Nicky Carle says the players have shouldered the blame for a run of poor results recently and says this is the weekend they must put it right.

The Sky Blues meet bottom of the ladder Gold Coast United at the Sydney Football Stadium on Sunday following an injury time defeat at Brisbane and Perth snatching a late draw in Campbelltown on Wednesday.

“I think everyone knows the ladder is very tight,” says Carle. “Had we picked up those five points, which I thought we should have, it would have been a different ball game.”

“But that-s happened now, we-ve got to play til the whistle goes and not until the 88th minute so it-s our fault and we know that. We-ve just got to make it right this week.”

Gold Coast sit four points adrift at the bottom of the A-League and were involved in Sydney-s courageous 3-2 comeback win at the SFS in November.

Carle isn-t taking the opposition lightly but says it-s up to Sydney to make the positive running.

“Since they-ve gone three at the back they-ve actually been very solid and very good.

“It-s up to us to be able to break them down and we-re at home so I really do believe we have to take the game to them.”
