Captain Grant Reveals Playing Squad Meeting

Sydney FC skipper Rhyan Grant has revealed that the squad has spoken as a group and pledged to do everything possible to win both the Isuzu-UTE A-League Championship and the AFC Champions League 2 titles.

As Saturday’s clash away to Adelaide United at Coopers looms as a must-win match, Grant emphasized a renewed determination within the squad, after last weekend’s disappointing result.

“As a playing group, we’ve come together and had a chat, and we really want to knuckle down these next couple of months,” Grant said.

“There are some very important games, not only in the A-League but in the Champions League as well. It’s sort of do or die at the minute for us.”

Sydney FC will play Adelaide United for the third time this season on Saturday

Sydney FC currently sits three points outside the top six, but a victory would see them overtake the Reds on goal difference and put them right back in the mix for finals contention with four games remaining.

“If we get a good result and the three points, it pushes us right back up into the top six,” Grant said.

Sydney FC Captain Rhyan Grant speaks to the important last part of the season and the chance to win trophies on two front with the ACL2 campaign and Champions League.

“It’s a very important game, like you said, a six-pointer, and that will probably be very much the case for the rest of the season.”

As a seasoned campaigner, Grant relishes these high-stakes moments and is eager to be a key figure in Sydney FC’s push for silverware.

“As a player, you want those big matches, those pressure moments, to really perform, and hopefully, as a group, we can do that,” he said.

Grant is hungry for success on both fronts and believes it’s possible.

Beyond their domestic aspirations, Sydney FC is also eyeing continental success, with a crucial clash against Singaporean opposition Lions City Sailors in the Champions League next Wednesday night.

“If we can win the Champions League 2 it would be unbelievable, especially from a club point of view but also personally.

“To get a chance to make a final and do something special for this club would be unbelievable,” Grant said.

“We don’t want to look too far ahead, but if I could pick where I want to be, that’s definitely where I’d be.”

With both domestic and international titles within reach, Sydney FC’s resolve has never been stronger.

The challenge begins in Adelaide this Saturday night, where a season-defining battle awaits.
