“I’m sad to be leaving my girls at Sydney FC at this stage of the season but this is an unbelievable opportunity which is impossible to turn down.
“Arsenal are one of the world’s biggest clubs and the challenge of playing in England at the highest level is going to provide me with the ultimate test at this stage of my career.
“I’ve had seven and a half wonderful seasons at Sydney FC and enjoyed a lot of success both personally and as a club.
“For that I’d like to thank all of the players and staff I have worked and played with over the years, as well as the fantastic Sydney FC Members for their support.”
Arsenal are the reigning FA WSL Champions as well as being the league’s most successful club, and currently sit joint top of the standings alongside Manchester City with nine rounds to go.
Foord will head to the London club following her commitments with the Matildas in China as they look to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Head Coach Ante Juric praised the contribution Foord had made to the Sky Blues.
“Caitlin has been a fixture of Sydney FC since she was 16 years old and will go down as one of the club’s greats.
“She was integral to our Championship success last season and it’s no surprise one of the world’s biggest clubs has come knocking at her door.
“She leaves with our blessing and we wish her all the best.”
