Brosque takes on Bondi to Barrenjoey

Sydney FC Hall of Famer, Alex Brosque, and over 150 others took part in the 4th annual Bondi to Barrenjoey 110km walk fundraiser across the weekend of February 24th and 25th .

The 110km walk this year was organised to encourage integration of mental health and wellbeing programs into the Sydney FC Empowers Me! Disability programs, run by Sydney FC Foundation.

The walk also saw a number of people from the Sydney FC disability community, including Pararoos and ParaMatildas players, as well as members of the Sydney FC Powerchair football community participating throughout.

Brosque said, “It was great to take part in the Bondi to Barrenjoey event, with so many fantastic people involved.

“It was an amazing opportunity to support what Sydney FC Foundation are doing in their Sydney FC Empowers Me! programs and to ensure that mental health and wellbeing is incorporated into the programs.”

The Sydney FC Empowers Me! programs sees Sydney FC Foundation run programs throughout schools, community programs and matchday experiences for people with disability. The program also incorporates the Sydney FC Powerchair football team and Sydney FC Powerchair community programs.

Statistics show that people with a disability are between 3x and 5x more likely to have a mental health illness, either in the form of anxiety, depression or suffer from high or very high levels of psychological distress than people without a disability.

The walk went across all terrains
