Back to school for Sydney FC

School visits are nothing new to Sydney FC with the club regularly conducting coaching clinics at schools across the city as part of the MBF Community Program but this week it wasn-t students, but the stars of Sydney FC that were being put through their paces on the field at Scots College.

On Wednesday Coach Vitezslav Lavicka transferred training to the Scots College, giving students at the Eastern suburbs school a chance to see their sporting heroes in action up close.

“It-s an exciting time for the students when Sydney FC trains at the College,” said Scots College Principal, Dr Ian PM Lambert. “These fine sportsmen serve as a great inspiration to Scots boys to strive for excellence together.”

Following the training session the Sydney squad took time out to meet with staff and students at the school over lunch. The Sky Blues hope to conduct more school sessions in the coming weeks as they continue their preparations for the Hyundai A-League season.

This weekend the players will be back out in the community, casting an eye over the next generation of footballers at clubs across the city.

On Saturday members of the Sydney squad will enjoy the junior action and meet with kids from Pagewood, Seaforth, Fraser Park, Forest Rangers and the Barden Ridgebacks.

On Sunday Sydney-s stars will be in attendance at the Canterbury Gala Day and also at Parklea, where special needs players will be in action as part of the Football 4 All program.

Meanwhile, the school holidays are approaching and places at the next of Sydney FC-s school holiday clinics will soon be on sale.

Sydney-s July Holiday Clinic will cater for kids from 6-12 years old, and will run from Tuesday, July 21 to Thursday, July 23 at the Macquarie University Sports Fields.
