Unbeaten in 2015, Sydney FC Head Coach Graham Arnold has set his sights on a top two position as the Sky Blues prepare to host the Central Coast Mariners at Allianz Stadium on Saturday (kick off 5pm).
While buoyed by his 5-1 win against the same opposition only three rounds ago, Arnold says he’s expecting a Mariners side out for revenge as he stressed that this match will completely different to that game at Central Coast Stadium.
“I expect a really tough contest,” Arnold said.
“I know everything about that club up there, all the players and coaching staff, and I know that they would have been hurting a lot since the 5-1 loss and they’ll be out for revenge.
“We have to go there and be ready on Saturday for a real tough game. First we have to go out and get ready for the contest and the battle and hopefully then our football can take over.
“It’s just another game and a game we have to win,” he continued.
“We’ve put ourselves in a good spot at the moment, we’re travelling well and our football has been outstanding since Christmas and we’re moving along in the right direction.
“I don’t look backwards I look forwards, I’m still chasing the top two positions in the league and I think we have the quality to do that.”
After scoring eleven goals in their previous three matches, Arnold stressed the need for consistency with ten round remaining in the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 season.
“The challenge for us is consistency and being able to perform at that consistent level all the time,” Arnold said.
“It won’t be any different on Saturday. I want to see a good disciplined football team that goes out and performs to the best of their ability and plays good entertaining football like we have been.
“We’re not there [in the finals] yet, there’s ten rounds to go and we’ve got Brisbane and Melbourne City breathing down our necks so the most important thing is we have to perform consistently.”
