Ally Green Heads To Norway

Sydney FC’s double Premiership winning full back Ally Green has signed with leading Norwegian club Vålerenga for the rest of the 2022 campaign.

Green has spent the past five seasons with Sydney FC, reaching the Liberty A-League Grand Final in each and securing two Premierships and one Championship in the process.

The 23-year old left back has become one of Sydney FC’s on-field leaders since making her debut during the 2018-19 Championship winning season.

And she’s looking forward to what the future will hold.

“I’m so excited for this opportunity to play for Vålerenga Fotboll Club in Norway,” she said.

“It’s always been an ambition of mine to play football abroad and experience new styles of play and develop my own game.

“I’m also very eager to explore Norway & Scandinavia, as it’s always been on my bucket list of places to visit.

“I can’t wait to meet the team and get started with a new chapter in my football career.”

Ally Green has been a mainstay of Sydney FC’s record breaking Liberty A-League squad over the past five years.

Life has been a rollercoaster for Green over the past few weeks with Premiership delight, Grand Final heartache as well as a call up to train with the New Zealand national team.

She is now set to move to Norway, however she hinted at a return to Sydney FC.

“I leave in mid-April, straight after the New Zealand squad national camp, so I’m looking forward to the opportunities in front of me.

“I would like to thank everyone at Sydney FC for the past five seasons & being my home away from home.

“I’ll miss my Sky Blue family, however it’s not a goodbye – just a see you soon.”

Sydney FC Head Coach Ante Juric believes the opportunity is just reward for Green’s hard work.

“Ally has been fantastic for Sydney FC over the past five seasons.

“Her performances have grown year-on-year and she has developed into a really top quality player.

“She has been a cornerstone of our club’s success during that time and I wish her well with her opportunity in Norway.

“It’s a chance she fully deserves.”

Green has made a total of 48 appearances for the Sky Blues and has scored two goals.
