Sydney FC Academy secured a commanding 4-0 victory over APIA Leichhardt on Friday night in the National Premier League (NPL). Despite APIA’s unbeaten record and position at the top of the league table, Sydney FC dominated the match in terms of chances, shots, and goals and welcome it after slumping to two losses in previous weeks.
The standout performers for Sydney FC included U19 winger Clayton Taylor, who contributed with two assists and scored a goal. U20 forward Ben Gibson also had an impressive performance, scoring two goals, while U20 centre-back Nathan Paull showcased his defensive prowess. Additionally, U18 left-back Max Buratto was a standout player on the night and earned the praise of those in attendance.
In the later stages of the match, Sydney FC even fielded U17 players such as striker Mitch Glasson, right-back Zachery De Jesus, and central midfielder Dylan Rose which is a testament to the club’s commitment to player development and providing opportunities for young talent to gain valuable experience at the senior level.
Earlier in the afternoon, in the U20’s match, Sydney FC also dominated in terms of chances and shots, securing a 1-0 victory over APIA. U17 striker Oscar Gultekin scored the winner, showcasing his potential as a promising young talent.
The U20’s team also had several standout players, including U17 left-back Jacob McLachlan, who demonstrated his dominance on the field, as well as U17 central midfielder Lachlan Middleton. U18 winger Rawley St John and U16 left-back Richard Nkomo also had impressive performances on the night.
