Day In The Life

Manage School Programs around Sydney

To start the day, I ensure all of our school programs are up and running; making sure coaches are aware of locations, adequate gear has been provided and programs are being delivered to a high level. I often find myself running around in the morning monitoring programs and meeting with our teacher ambassadors at our many Sydney FC schools.

Program preparation

Back at the office, I am looking to make new connections with school teachers and education providers offering football programs to students. I also work with Sydney FC Regional Development Officers to organise other school initiatives including School Cups/ Tournaments, Gala Days and visits.

Collaborate with education partners

Once programs are up and running, a big part of my role is managing relationships with our education partner, SEDA. I work through the day-to-day facilitation of the SEDA Diploma in Sport and Business, ensuring the cohort are getting the best Sydney FC experience possible. This includes lining up best-in-class workshops for students, setting up in-club work placements to provide opportunities to students in industry and overall ensuring our Course Facilitator, Mick, has all the tools and access to deliver high quality experience to the diploma cohort.

Working with students

In the afternoon I spend time managing our connection with SEDA College. We provide SEDA college with opportunities to volunteer at our home match days, football programs and community initiatives. You’ll often find me at a Sydney FC SEDA college School clinic to check in on the young student coaches, as well as delivering coach education workshops at SEDA college’s Glebe campus.

Evaluate and determine objectives

At the end of the day, I meet with our Head of Programs to discuss and evaluate our short and long term goals. These conversations guide my work and allow me to plan ahead.
