Advisor – Phillip Wolanski AM

Phillip Wolanski holds a Bachelor of Economics degree (Sydney University) and is Managing Director of a private property development and investment company.

Phillip has been involved in the administration of football in Australia at State and Club level for many years and is a former Team Manager of the Northern Spirit National League Football Club from 1999 to 2000.

In June 2003 he was appointed to the Board of the then Australia Soccer Association now known as Football Australia, after being nominated for the position and interviewed by a member of the Australian Sports Commission who recommended Phillip’s appointment.  In his capacity as a Board member Phillip held a seat on the Executive Committee of the Board. 

In the early part of 2004 Phillip served as the designated member for Australia for the Organising Committee for the FIFA World Club Championship and subsequently the Organising Committee for the FIFA Confederations Cup held in Germany in June 2005.

Since his appointment to the Board Phillip also filled the role of Head of Delegation for the National Team, including at the World Cup (Germany) 2006. 

From 2003 – 2015 Phillip was also a Board Director of Football Federation Australia Limited, served as the Chair of its Football Development Committee and was the Head of Delegation for the Socceroos (2004 –2014), before retiring having reached the maximum term allowed as a director.

In 2014 Phillip was appointed as a Trustee to the Sydney Opera House Board, where he is served three terms, he served as a Member of the Sydney Opera House Building and Heritage Committee and Chairperson of the Sydney Opera House Conservation Council Committee until the end of his tenure in 2023.

Phillip is a retired member of the Governing Committee of the Temora Aviation Museum.

In 2008, Phillip was awarded an Order of Australia in the General Division (AM) in 2008 in the Queen’s Birthday honour for service to the community through executive roles and philanthropic contributions to a range of arts, sporting and cultural organisations.

In 2017, he was Appointed as a Life Governor of Hakoah and was inducted into the NSW Maccabi Sports Hall of Fame.
