The 26-year-old was contracted through to 31 March 2010, but asked for an early release, which was agreed to by Sydney FC late this week.
The versatile defender/midfielder made eight appearances for Sydney FC after joining the club from Perth Glory at the start of the 2008/09 season.
“It is disappointing that Mitch decided he wanted to leave Sydney FC but we respect his decision and wish him luck,” coach Vitezslav Lavicka said.
