Terry Antonis made his Hyundai A-League debut in Sydney FC-s clash with the Wellington Phoenix last Saturday night, making him the Sky Blues youngest ever player.
At just 16 years of age, Antonis is both an outstanding young man but a prodigiously talented star in the making.
We caught up with Terry after his first away trip and asked him a few questions about the experience and how it feels to be the youngest ever player to don the Sky Blue.
SFC: Congratulations on making your Sydney FC debut, how did it feel to play in your first A-League game?
TA: It was a great experience, just being on the field with all those players and playing my first game with Sydney FC. It was a dream come true.
SFC: Tell us what it was like out there in the 10 or so minutes you were on? Was it everything you expected?
TA: Yeah, all those hard practice sessions to get those ten minutes were worth it. So it was great.
SFC: How did it feel to be surrounded by that many fans?
TA: Well it was a great feeling; it-s been my dream to play like that and in front of a lot of people. I really enjoyed everything about it.
SFC: When you came on, what were you trying to do out there?
TA: I was trying to create chances when I got out there and use my pace to help create any opportunities I could.
SFC: What was it like on your first away trip with Sydney FC? What did you get up to?
TA: We did a fair bit of hard training but otherwise we got to relax and that, to save us for the game on the weekend. We travelled on Thursday and had a light jog that afternoon before having a normal training session on Friday.
SFC: And how was the experience for you, traveling with the other players?
TA: It-s great because you pick up stuff that the older players do and you learn so it-s good.
SFC: Being the youngest player in Sydney FC-s first team is pretty special, are you enjoying being a professional footballer?
TA: Of course. Since I was small I wanted to do this. So it is everything to me.
SFC: What are your goals for the rest of the season?
TA: I want to get a couple of starts and score a couple of goals as well.
