Hunter has a long standing wish to ‘play sports again- after having been wheelchair bound for the last 12 months. Today, free of a wheelchair, Hunter not only got a private lesson with McFlynn, but so too a tour of the home dressing rooms, and a very special kit presentation with a personalised jersey.
Decked head to toe in Sydney FC-s colours, 8 year old Hunter claimed “This is the best day of my life!”
McFlynn saw today why it-s so important to raise money for the Children-s Cancer Institute Australia, and has vowed more than ever to get behind Footy Rocks.

Footy Rocks is the brain child of NRL star Benji Marshall, who called on fellow athletes to donate their time and help raise much needed awareness for childhood cancer “Footy Rocks is an awesome opportunity for athletes from all codes of the football community to use their profile to help save the lives of kids with cancer,” says Benji Marshall.
Footy Rocks will be a night to remember, with true Aussie sporting heroes spearheading the event including McFlynn and his team mates.
Footy Rocks proudly sponsored by Steggles, will be a black tie evening of surprise performances, a delicious four-course dinner and several hours of live music and dancing. A special auction will sell off once-in-a-lifetime items to the highest bidder, including one-on-one training sessions with some of Australia-s most elite athletes, cars, yachts and holidays.
Footy Rocks aims to raise in excess of $250,000 for medical research at CCIA to help save the lives of kids with cancer.
“This is a tremendous cause and if Sydney FC can help in any little way we will. Benji should be applauded for leading this battle and I will help him fight this fight,” McFlynn said.
“Seeing a child ill is difficult enough, let alone losing one. Hopefully we can raise a substantial amount of money on the night and help improve the lives of as many kids as possible. Everyone-s welcome and we hope people will forget which code or team they support and get behind Footy Rocks”
