Sydney FC’s midfield engine Mackenzie Hawkesby has penned a one-year extension to her time in Sky Blue.
Our 2024-25 Golden Boot winner joined the club as a 19-year-old in 2019 and has since gone on to make 98 appearances and become a household name in the Ninja A-League.
She has won the 2024 Grand Final Player of the Match, Sydney FC’s Player of the Year in 2022 and has four times been named in the PFA Team of the Season, and A-League All-Stars.
She is a main stay in the heart of Ante Juric’s midfield where she has been critical to the mountain of success that Sydney FC have found, winning three Premierships and two Championships.

The 25-year-old will remain Sky Blue until the end of the 2025/26 season, where she will surpass 100 appearances for the club only beaten by Princess Ibini, Teresa Polias and Natalie Tobin.

The Illawarra junior can’t wait to get back to playing football.
“Last season was nowhere near the levels that we expect for ourselves at Sydney FC and now in 2025/26 we have a chance to put that right, together.
“I’ve matured and developed so much as a player here at Sydney and under Ante and I look forward to creating more memories in the next year,” she said.

“I would like to also thank all the amazing Members and fans that I have come to know so well across the last six years and I look forward to playing in front of you again this season.”
Ante Juric has utilised Mackenzie Hawkesby across the pitch in numerous positions and he believes that experience will be vital to the 2025/26 campaign.
“I am delighted to have Mackenzie sign with the club for another year. She has been a key player for a few years now and she has been extremely successful at Sydney FC winning a number of trophies.
“She is a fantastic player who works very hard and she has shown she has an eye for goal,” he said.
“Mackenzie is a fantastic person and her character around the dressing room is infectious. Her energy rubs off on all of the players and you can see the lift that she gives the girls at training and games with her personality and desire to win.
“I am really looking forward to working with her again for a 7th season and looking forward to winning more trophies with her.”
Mackenzie will join up with her team-mates in September when the side return for pre-season.
