Match Report: Sydney FC’s Women’s team have earned a hard fought and entertaining, physical 0-0 draw against Central Coast Mariners at Leichhardt Oval.

It was Sydney FC’s keeper who was called into action first with Edwards being forced to make a triple save from shots from Evans, Rasmussen and Ray in quick succession in the 3rd minute.

It was the Mariners who did a lot of the early running but the Sky Blues found their way into the game Tumeth almost opened her account for the club with a fabulous drilled shot which cannoned off the bar.

Plenty of feisty challenges followed and Edwards was forced into another save from Nunn just before the 30-minute mark to keep it level at the break.

Both sides fought hard in the second half and there were plenty of tough challenges between the players.

Substitute Luchtmeijer had a late chance when she shot from distance but it wasn’t to be for the Sky Blues and they were thankful to goalkeeper Brianna Edwards for a number of saves and a clean sheet to take away a point.

Jordan Thompson and the Sydney FC defensive line stood strong for another clean sheet.

What They Said: Ante Juric:- “I’m pleased in a lot of ways because the girls are just getting stronger and better and attacking with a lot of intent.

“We are defending very well, we haven’t conceded for a long time and doing well in a lot of ways.

“We would have liked three points at home because our players probably deserved it in terms of chances anyway.”
