One of Australia’s brightest young footballers has committed her future to Sydney FC by extending her contract for a further two years.
17-year old Indiana Dos Santos became the A-League’s youngest ever Championship winner as a 15-year old two seasons ago, when she helped the Sky Blues win the 2023 A-League Women’s Grand Final, before repeating the feat last year.
The Young Matilda has the talent many expect to take her to the very top of the game and she is delighted to have secured her future at Sydney FC.
“I’m so happy, it’s like a dream come true,” she said.
“I’ve always wanted to play for Sydney FC. It has always been a club I have supported since I was young, so I’m really excited to hopefully help the club win some more Championships.
“It’s good to know I’m’ going to be here for two more years, it’s 100% something I have wanted. So, I am really happy and can’t wait.
“In the next two years I want to develop as a player, help the club win as many games as possible and hopefully get a call into the Matildas.
“I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given by Coach Ante [Juric], the facilities here at Sky Park are great, and the players are just amazing.
“They help you get better every single day and you train against the best.”
Head Coach Ante Juric praised Dos Santos and was extremely pleased she will remain a Sky Blue.
“Indiana Dos Santos is an extremely talented young player, and I expect she will go on and have a great career,” he said.
“We are extremely fortunate that she has agreed to sign for another two seasons for Sydney FC and we want to help her continue to develop and achieve her potential.
“She’s playing a lot more games this season and is getting better and better with every appearance and I’m certain she is a star of the future.”
Dos Santos faces a family head-to-head on Wednesday when she comes up against her elder sister Jynaya, 19, who moved to Canberra United ahead of the start of this season.
The pair will clash at Leichhardt Oval on Wednesday night from 7pm.
“I think it’s going to be a great rivalry,” she said.
“Hopefully we can flip the season around from here and start winning some games, it will be good to get the win, especially if it’s against her.
“We’ve been talking about it and she’s really excited, in fact we are both really excited so let’s see what happens,” she continued.
“There’s a bit of pressure but I think we’ve just got to stay calm and do what we do.
“I think we’ve got to execute up top and start finishing.
“Once that happens, I think everything will fall into place and we’ll start winning and get into that flow again.”
The clash versus Canberra is the first of two home games in five days with the Central Coast Mariners due to arrive at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday afternoon 5pm.
