Match Report:

A half time lightning storm and rain made an impact at Porirua Park as the Sky Blues were on the receiving end of a 2-0 loss against Wellington Phoenix.

Farrow had a good chance early on after a bad back pass but couldn’t capitalize as the first half ended scoreless.

Following a 30 minute weather delay at half time the Phoenix were under pressure but were able to rally and score from a long range shot.

McKeeken scored late on with a header before Ibini’s header hit the post.

The Big Blue against Melbourne Victory next Saturday at Allianz Stadium provides the perfect opportunity for a comeback.

What they said:

Nat Tobin: “We have all the chances unfortunately we can’t put them away. We seem to be letting teams into the game and creating chances but once we start finishing them I think the story will turn but yeah it’s just disappointing”

“I think that we did dominate the first half compared to a very poor performance last week, we came out a lot stronger.”

“We’ve worked really hard and we’ve always been on top, but we’re now in a new position that we’ve never found ourselves in.”

“We have a very good morale within the team and I think we’ll just keep working hard to pull ourselves out of this and see it as a new challenge”

“We are determined we will be in the grand final, but for now we need to be resilient and work towards focusing on next week.”
